You cannot get better at moving unless you analyse and STUDY yourself
I was talking to a client recently about this. He asked me what he thought would be the quickest way to learn movement. When i look back at my own progress and that of my clients who have learnt the quickest, it is clear the one's who have filmed themselves moving and have studied their execution of their technique/posture/compensations etc have progressed the quickest. Its one thing getting asked to change a particular cue and adjusting it in the moment. Its another to catch yourself doing it when you least expected and or didn't realise you were doing it in a crucial part of the movement sequence.
1. Film 🎥 yourself doing exercises you are working on consistently
2. ✍ Look back and study the video focusing solely on what is restricting you from performing the exercise well (important of course to know the elements of what a good rep is supposed to look and how it's simultaneously meant to feel)
- Pay attention also to what you are doing WELL. This is important to take note of for progress.
3. Make one adjustment at a time and notice if you were able to correct it in the moment. If it was difficult from a mobility/structural standpoint then you need the patience to continue working on that area progressively getting more movement. If you were able to change in then remember the fatigue and position and get your REPS!
4. Doing this you'll get a much clearer idea of where you need to be (movement and strength) and whats stopping you.
5. As you keep learning you'll be able to increase your KQ and move like a shaolin monk 💪🏽
6. Start by doing it in the fundamental exercises and the more difficult to execute. Don't just analyse the tougher movements/exercises
Hopefully this helps some of you 🙌
